Well, in this topic, I have already written and will write my short opinions about a variety of films. All this will be much more often than reviews. Every week a new opinion appears, and accordingly you discuss it.
Well, I’ll start. I will be glad if you share your opinion. The films found in these posts are of different calibers. This is already the sixth post. This week we have a classic gangster movie. In many ways, all its charm lies in the fact that Ireland was chosen as the setting. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Before us is probably one of the most daring, daring and simply funny action films of the late 90s. It’s definitely not a masterpiece. But that atmosphere, that chaos that happens in this film, left a mark in my memory for a long time. Of course, not everyone considers it to be something important for cinema. I think differently. In my opinion, this is such a rare representative of the “hooligan action” genre that it’s simply impossible not to at least get acquainted with it.
Now why is he so https://casino-seven.co.uk/ good?. Well first of all it’s the cast. Of the famous actors I remember only William Dafoe. But we can’t help but say how brilliantly the main characters played. The way they speak and behave in a variety of situations. All this was played out by the guys with a bang. As for William Defoe, I simply have no words. The film would still be crazy cool even if it was just William Dafoe investigating murders. It’s not just about great acting. It is clear that the actor himself enjoyed playing in this film. And the film’s small budget indicates a rather modest fee. Not all actors give as much effort in high-profile blockbusters as Dafoe does here. There are a lot of less important, but equally cool, characters in the film. All of them never drag the film back. The various mafia factions are shown well. I was surprised that the head of the Russian mafia speaks pure Russian, and not with a terrible accent as usual.
Another definite plus is the way of storytelling. Or rather, how the authors show key plot points. First, the results, and then how it all happened. The quintessence of this was Defoe’s character’s retelling of a shootout at the house of a hitman. Those who have seen understand what I mean. It’s just mega stylish. Moments like these make me watch it with even more interest. The plot itself is simple, but there are some goodies, but in general they are not needed by the story. Also, one can’t help but rejoice at the idea behind the film. You really see that these are good people, but they kill because they don’t know anything else. And they kill the bad guys, gradually clearing the city of them. You can still see some religious overtones, but I can’t stand this topic, and in this film I chose not to notice.
One of the minuses is that the religious theme did not bypass the film. Although, it adds some charm to the film. Well, a weak plot overall. But the way it is presented completely saves the situation, and the film never gets boring.
In general, “Slum Saints” is not a film about beautiful shootouts, a confusing plot or beautiful special effects. This is a simple, everyday, human film. It has drama and a lot of dark humor. Already at the very beginning of the film, you stop paying attention to its budget. You become imbued with the characters, admire William Defoe, and in general gradually realize that something is keeping you glued to the screen. I think many people have seen the film, I advise you to watch it again. And for those who haven’t seen it, I highly recommend watching it. Films like this are not made anymore, this is a unique example of its kind. I won’t rate it, for me it’s a classic.
