Vegetation is an integral part of the life of all humanity: plant growing, thanks to which we eat and feed the animals that will provide us with food in the future, previously plant growing was included in construction, because thanks to it, clay was mixed with straw and buildings were made, and the roofs of houses were also covered. Thanks to trees, the ancient world as a whole was built.

I have already made 4 parts about vegetation in video games, because, as it turns out, even here plants are an important aspect that immerses us in the atmosphere and gameplay.

Today we will talk about a project that was exclusive to Sony, but still made it to PC boys, which is good news. And I’m happy because I finally have an incentive to study the vegetation of island Japan.

If you are still haunted https://davincisgold.co.uk/mobile-app/ by the question: “Why is this guy reviewing vegetation??“- everything is simple: I’m studying agronomy.

And yes, today we will talk about Ghost of Tsushima. By the way, the game was warmly received by both fans and critics: the reactions of gaming publications are quite good: metacritic: 83\100, opencritic 85\100

Game world

The game takes place in 1274, during the first Mongol invasion of Japan, when the island of Tsushima was captured and ravaged by the Mongol Empire. The main character, a Japanese samurai named Jin Sakai, single-handedly fights the superior forces of the Mongols, relying on old samurai traditions. The Mongol leader, Khotun Khan, is described as a "frighteningly sane killer". The island of Tsushima in the game is an open world in which we can move freely; there are many remarkable places on it – from bamboo thickets to castles, but of course, I am primarily interested in the vegetation. Spoiler – it is very interesting because it has a huge number of endemics.

Terms

I’ll go over the mat. parts at once and I will try to explain everything without abstruse words:

Many plants are endemic – these are plants that do not grow in other regions. Japan is an interesting region that combines water meadows with plants that shimmer in the sun, and the peculiarity of which is the gloss that covers the leaves; there is also a rocky terrain in which the trees had to adapt for a long time for even the slightest comfort during germination.

Lower tiers

Meadow plants with apparently parallel veins, resembling corn leaves. A special feature of this plant is its gloss, which shines from the surface of the leaf and illuminates the game even more. This happened, in my opinion, due to the fact that these meadows are flooded in large quantities, I will talk about this in more detail later.

A beautiful meadow plant resembling feather grass, perhaps this is it.

A meadow flower resembling either a camellia or a Chinese rose – a prefabricated element for painting armor. Is a beautiful red flower with large petals.
